Welcome to Buzalko Woodworking

The Journey from Forts to Furniture

My earliest recollection of woodworking is as a young boy scouring wood piles and pallets to build forts in the woods. I excelled in wood shop at school and spent many hours on the lathe. After graduation and a three year stint in the Army, I came home to Pottsville in 1978. I remodeled a house and had my first shop in a 20 X 20 garage. I started with an old 1940's Sears table saw router, hand tools and a big desire.

I officially started Buzalko Woodworking in 1985. I made items that I sold at craft shows. I did not want to be known as a person who made crafts. I wanted to hold my items to a higher standard and be called a "Craftsman". I studied in depth about techniques, properties and characteristics of woods. I studied old furniture and types of joinery used. I experimented with different types of finishing.

While at craft shows I had many people ask for custom pieces and I soon dropped the craft show circuit and began building custom furniture and cabinetry.

In 1989, I built a new home with a 1800 Sq. Ft. shop at our present location. Always wanting to learn, I attended the local vocational technical schools taking various courses in the construction trade. I have also attended Timber Framing School in Ohio and Windsor Chair Making School in New Hampshire. I continue to study my crafts, old furniture and buildings.

Today we build a wide range of items. Both residential and commercial, interior and exterior. Some items include tables - both home and conference, chairs, benches, bedrooms, desks - both home and work, bookcases, libraries, display cases, residential and commercial bars, media centers, kitchens and baths. We also repair furniture and install everything we build. We will work with your designer or design ourselves. We work on both residential and commercial projects and treat each with the personal care you can depend on.

Thank you for visiting,
